SWEET HOME ALABAMA

UPDATE.
WE MOVED.
TO A WHOLE ASS OTHER STATE.

in July of 2022, we made the decision to absolutely go with it.

A year or 2 ago, Devin and I were chit chatting about our 5 year plan and whatnot. I literally remember saying, "i think it'd be so cool to like live in another state"
Now granted, Florida is home. And will always be home.. but doing the same thing in the same town you grew up in... for the rest of your life... I just knew there had to be a bigger picture at hand.

How it all came to beeeee, good ole' Devin had a job opportunity arise with Orange County being an electrical inspector.
His position at Strada Services was one he loved.. but he worked under his dad..so in order for him to move up in management was far and in between unless his dad left. And he has a pretty good while until he retires, so Devin saw no potential growth in his position.
When the owner of our company got word of Devin potentially moving on simply because of growth, he offered him a manager position at a brand new shop in Montgomery, Alabama.
Which isn't that far from the town Devins grandparents live in.
So me being GUN HO for adventure, my words were HELL YA. I wasnt all big and bad though,...
(heres a screenshot of my many happy sad meltdowns my friends got to endure on snapchat :)
(i try to capture every moment ya kno)
Anywhooo, to be raw..I had many realizations that wowie, I'm an only child... my parents aren't getting any younger. Literalllllly everything you've ever known has been located in central Florida do you really want to move away from the life you've created and built?
but the fact that Florida ain't going anywhere, only a 7 hour and 30 minute drive.. you leave at 7 am arrive at 2:30.. it'll be totally fine. EVERYTHINGS FINE.

Someone told me if something bad is going to happen to your parents, the harsh reality is its going to happen regardless of you there or not... aaaand father. Good ole' Dan.. in one of my many meltdowns, he said, "Shelbie, you have your whole life ahead of you. Grab what ya can, and go for it!"

So like, that was cool and made me super cry cause that was like all the validation i needed :,)

Since Devin had to do some training with the Alabama folk, he agreed to travel up every other week.

Which wasn't as hard as it sounds, tbh.

BUT with that, he toured a couple homes, fancy homes, niiiiiice homes.. but the one we fell in love with was a simple 1800 sq ft home, 3 bed 2 bath, 5 acre beauty.

The house was built by this sweet, amazing very kind family that owned 60 acres. Mr. & Mrs. Tutton. They built the house for their daughter Brenda, and Brenda and I exchanged numbers and told us how her daddy has dementia and her momma can't keep up with the land anymore, so they have to sell it all... but here's a cute as photo of them <3

like how damn sweet.

Anyhwo, back to timeline..
Signed papers on the 4th!
Ate a super cute sammich shop.. our relator gave us a cuties "house wives of wetumpka" wine tumblr! lol
Had our gooood ole friend Josh help us move up on the 8th!
November 11th we officially said goodbye to our very first home together, packed the fur babies up and traveled on up!!

(they did so good on the road trip!!) I was pleasantly shocked.

I quite seriously do not know how on gods green earth we could have done this without our friends and family that helped....
My good friend next door, Jenni found on marketplace someone giving away a shit ton of brand new good boxes.... so we did not have to buy ONE single box....
Stacey helped me packed up the kitchen before I could have a panic attack about it :)

And the rest just fell in to place!!
When we came up, his parents helped us unpack every single thing...
that probably would still be in boxes in the garage...
ALSO TALK ABOUT PARTY IN THE BACK. she got a fat ass back side. go on with ya bad self.
Then his grandparents came over to help and feed us!

And its just been so great :,)

The town is so cutesy and straight out of hallmark...
Literally..

Moving away obvi makes you miss everything and everyone.
I will be foreverrrrrrrrrr grateful, thankful, and all the fulls.. for every single person in my life.

Florida will always be our home away from home. But Bama, chapter 1.. ya may begin son.

Yeehaw,
S.
